GPT-Image-2.6 Flare and Sunburst

Released
Review updated

OpenAI's two new image models for developers. OpenAI says Images 2.6 generates images 50% faster than before. Flare is built for speed: at low quality it can produce an image in as little as six seconds, and it handles layouts for posters and product shots better. Sunburst is for detail-heavy work and, at medium or high quality, gives higher-quality results and more consistent edits. A new complexity setting controls how much the model plans: low suits most edits, while busy scenes may need medium or high.

Availability

Flare and Sunburst are available in the API, and GPT-Image-2.6 is also in Codex. The API supports image markup for targeted edits, SVG output and animated GIF output, and adds a complexity setting. Both models are billed per token: $5 per 1M text input tokens, $8 per 1M image input tokens and $30 per 1M image output tokens. ChatGPT Images 2.6 is on all subscription tiers.
