# ChatGPT adds Locked Chats to keep sensitive conversations behind a PIN or biometrics

OpenAI began rolling out Locked Chats in ChatGPT on October 21, 2026 \(Beijing time\), across Free, Go, Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu plans. The feature moves conversations out of regular chat history and search. Unlock them with a PIN on web and desktop, or with a PIN, Face ID, Touch ID or device unlock on supported mobile devices. New messages in locked chats do not update the memory used in regular chats.
