# GitHub Copilot retires six models and adds a model policy API

GitHub retired six models across most Copilot experiences on October 19, 2026, including Chat, inline edits, ask and agent modes, and code completions. The suggested replacements are Gemini 3.8 Flash for Gemini 3.7 Flash; GPT-6.1 Sol for GPT-5.5 and GPT-5.4; GPT-6 Luna for GPT-5.4 mini and GPT-5 mini; and Grok 4.7 for Grok 4.5. Enterprise administrators may need to enable the replacements, and workflows should not be assumed to have migrated automatically. Separately, GET and PATCH model policy endpoints became generally available that day for enterprises, enterprise teams, enterprise apps and organizations. Enterprises can delegate control to organizations or to teams and apps, depending on their operating mode.
