# Claude Code CLI adds MCP long-running tasks and mid-task input

Claude Code CLI now supports MCP Tasks and Elicitations. Compatible plugins can run long jobs such as deep research or report exports on a server while Claude continues working, and can request missing information or confirmation mid-task. Tasks are in public beta and require Claude Code v2.1.304 or later, a compatible server and a supported session with feature flags enabled. They are not available in the desktop app, VS Code extension, subagent calls or ordinary one-shot non-interactive runs. Remote-server tasks can continue after exit and be tracked again when the same session resumes; tasks requiring user input need an interactive terminal session. Support for other Claude products is planned. No separate plan eligibility was announced.
